Uganda Children’s Outreach: Guiding Principles

- We seek out and love each child regardless of his or her circumstances.
- We give each child personal attention, unconditional love, and guidance.
- We avoid judging, criticizing, and punishing unacceptable behavior. We do however, establish, and communicate clear limits and consequences for behavior outside of these limits.
- We continuously develop ourselves, mind, body and spirit in order to be models and effective leaders for our children.
- We seek out and continuously upgrade state-of the-art training and educational methodologies.
- We believe that work is an important source of self-esteem and should provide ample room for creativity.
- We live by Judeo-Christian values in every aspect of our lives, thereby creating role models for the children that we serve.
- We believe in creating an exciting, enjoyable, and challenging place to work and contribute.
- We deliver outstanding value to our sponsors through frugality and the judicial use of our funds.
- We are ever seeking to use resources on only those things crucial to achieving our vision
- We understand that each of us is in a continuous learning process and that one of our major challenges is to improve the quality of virtually everything that we offer our children. We make sure through benchmarking and feedback mechanisms that these changes do in fact, positively affect their lives as well as our own.
- We create an environment that models the characteristics that we are incorporating into the children—integrity, character, creativity, positivism, caring and commitment to excellence.
- We teach by example that we are all children of a loving, Heavenly Father.
- We understand that as long as we are serving others, we are doing our job well.
