December 2010 Trip
Highlights of December 2010 Trip
We were both excited and committed to make our December trip a success. While in Uganda, we met up with our local contact, The Home of Champion's. With their guidance, we visited two orphanages in remote villages. One in the east called, Kyenjojo which housed 100 children and one in the west called Bugiri which also housed 100 childre. While we were warmly welcomed in each village and orphanage, we couldn't help but be drawn to the children who were not able to be one of the "100" in the orphanages. In each village we encountered the same set of circumstances, orphaned children, living on the streets and Orphanages with great needs for the simplest of items... nutritious foods, clothing, medical attention.
We also met up with Fred Allen where we were able to see the progress of the construction of the orphanage: Landscaping, water tower, school projects and was able to meet with the local parents of the school for a Teacher Parents conference.
Though the needs of these children are immediate, they are not impossible. With continued help from our faithful friends, we can make a difference in the lives of these children. The smallest gift is so very gratefully appreciated.
